Mission Statement

The mission of Freeport Police Department Explorer Post #467 is to mentor and educate young men and women who are interested in the field of law enforcement and to provide an experience that conveys the importance of education, community service, and teamwork.

What Is It?

Police Exploring is a career oriented volunteer program sponsored by Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America. Numerous law enforcement agencies across the nation sponsor an explorer post to provide youth with a hands-on experience working with law enforcement that allows them to explore the field of criminal justice.

  • Have a strong interest in law enforcement
  • Between 14-20 years of age
  • Stephenson County resident
  • Be of good moral character
  • Submit to a background investigation
  • Be in good academic standing (Minimum 2.5 GPA)
